内容简介:

The third lecture will focus on the anaerobic degradation of cyclic compounds. The comparison between aerobic and anaerobic degradation of aromatic compounds will be presented, providing examples, going deeper into some routes and possibilities of mechanisms. Aniline Degradation will be emphasized. A case study about the degradation of herbicides and pesticides will then be presented, in which the difficulties and conditions necessary for the degradation of the compounds will be discussed.

Associate Professor of the Federal University of Pernambuco. Visiting Professor at the University of Toronto-Canada between 2016 and 2017. Associate Professor at the University of Toronto, from July 2017 (status only). Full member of the FACEPE Committee of Engineering. Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Civil Engineering at UFPE (Recife campus) between 2018 and 2019. She was coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Caruaru campus of UFPE between 2014-2016. She was the coordinator of the Nanosensors Development Network for Detecting Micropoluents in Water - NAMICRO. Bioremediation of degraded areas, degradation of textile effluents and aromatic compounds, and sanitary protection of cisterns are its main lines of research. The focus is on understanding the fundamentals of the biological removal of aromatic compounds. The development and assessment of sanitary barriers for water quality protection is a priority for the cisterns line. Experience in Sanitary Engineering, focusing on Wastewater Treatment, acting on the following subjects: industrial and domestic effluent treatment, cistern water quality, microbiology, and nutrient removal.

Sophia Pimentel is currently a doctoral student in Civil Engineering - Environmental Technology and Water Resources at the Federal University of Pernambuco - UFPE, starting in August 2017 and research on bioremediation of groundwater and soil contaminated by aromatic compounds used in the petrochemical industry for herbicide production, in an industrial center Camaçari-BA, in partnership with a multinational company and the University of Toronto. She holds a master's degree from the same teaching institution and course (UFPE - Civil Engineering) (2017) and Regional Development and Innovation at Van Hall Larenstein, part of Wageningen University.

内容简介:

The fourth lecture will be about the inhibition of anaerobic processes, their solutions, and new trends. The inhibition of anaerobic processes can be due to several causes that will be presented in this lecture. This lecture addresses the coupling between anaerobic digestion and hydrothermal liquefaction, emphasizing the anaerobic digestion of the aqueous phases, potentially toxic, generated by the second process. Here, strategies to overcome inhibition will also be discussed, emphasizing the adsorption processes and the use of biochar as a pre-treatment or as an additive in anaerobic digestion.

报告人简介:

Giovana Tommaso is associate professor at of University of Sao Paulo since 2012, having been hired in 2005. She is responsible for the Environmental Biotechnology Lab since 2007. She was visiting scholar at University of Minho (Portugal) in 2010 and University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 2013 (pos doctoral internship with FAPESP grant). She had three awarded posters at the VII, XI and XII Latin American Workshop on Anaerobic Digestion (International Water Association), in 2002, 2014 and 2017. In 2017, one of her presentation awarded as the best in the Environmental Biotechnology section. She is referee of the following journals: Bioresource Technology, Waste Management, Brazilian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Water Science and Technology, Biochemical Engineering Journal, Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, Chemical Industry & Chemical Engineering Quarterly, Energy (Oxford), Plos One, Renewable Energy e Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering. Her research interests are related to Environmental Engineering, with emphasis on wastewater treatment and bioenergy, focused mainly in the subjects: anaerobic process, anaerobic reactors, hydrothermal liquefaction.

内容简介:

Our last lecture will be related to Biorefineries and how such a concept can transform wastewater treatment systems in plants producing valuable compounds. The concepts of anaerobic digestion applied to the treatment of effluents will be revised and extended to concepts of anaerobic waste processing. In this way, routes for producing high added value bioproducts through the anaerobic digestion of effluents will be explored. Attention will be given to the coupling of anaerobic digestion and the sugarcane alcohol biorefinery by processing by-products from first and second-generation ethanol production.

报告人简介:

Dr. Lucas Tadeu Fuess is an Environmental Engineer (2006-2010) and Master in Geosciences and Environment (2011-2013; FAPESP) by the Institute of Geosciences and Exact Sciences of the São Paulo State University "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (IGCE/Unesp). He has a Ph.D. in Sciences (Hydraulic Engineering and Sanitation) (2013-2017; FAPESP), from the São Carlos School of Engineering of the University of São Paulo (EESC/USP), having developed part of the thesis at the National Laboratory for Bioethanol Science and Technology (CTBE/CNPEM). He was a post-doctoral researcher linked to the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (POLI/USP) (2017-2021; FAPESP). He works in Sanitary and Environmental Engineering, with an emphasis on controlling environmental pollution through the application of biological treatment processes. In particular, he has experience in the application of anaerobic digestion in the processing of agro-industrial effluents aiming at the recovery of bioenergy through hydrogen (acidogenic processes) and methane (methanogenic processes) as well as the production of soluble metabolites (organic acids and solvents) with high-value aggregate. In a broader context, he works on applying the biorefinery concept to the management of waste streams from industrial processes, seeking to add value from the recovery of bioenergy and bioproducts.
